Michael Bent is a cellist, educator, and missionary with a passion for using music and teaching to reach hearts across cultures. Based in Columbus, Ohio, he is a graduate of Nyack College in New York City and received mission training through Adventist Frontier Missions (AFM) in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

In 2020, Michael accepted a call to become the first-ever music missionary for the Institute of Young Musicians for Christ (IYMC). From 2021 to 2022, amidst the global challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, he served for 15 months in Khon Kaen, Thailand, where he taught English Language Arts at Khon Kaen International School and cello at Peace Music Academy (PMA). It was during this season of global upheaval that Michael witnessed God’s provision in powerful ways—including a five-day transit delay in Germany on his way to Thailand that was sustained by a providential $2,000 miracle.

This experience played a pivotal role in shaping his vocational path, inspiring him to pursue a Master of Arts in Education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University upon returning to the United States and transitioning into full-time elementary education.

Through both trials and blessings, he remains anchored in the promise of Romans 8:28, trusting that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Michael’s goal is to return to Khon Kaen to serve local families through music, education, and cultural connections. Moving beyond the stage and into the hearts of the community.
